Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal F.C. suffered a worrying double injury setback during their hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Ham United F.C. in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Gunners secured all three points thanks to a late strike from Leandro Trossard in the 82nd minute, a result that keeps Arsenal firmly in the Premier League title race as they remain five points ahead of Manchester City.
However, the win was overshadowed by injury concerns involving two key players. Defender Ben White was forced off in the first half after picking up a knee problem. He was replaced by Martin Zubimendi as Arsenal reshuffled their back line.
The situation worsened after the break when Riccardo Calafiori did not return to the pitch. He was replaced by Cristhian Mosquera, raising further concerns about the squad’s defensive depth during a crucial stage of the season.
Speaking after the match, Arteta admitted that the situation looked serious, especially regarding White’s injury.
“We don’t know the severity yet, but it doesn’t look good at all,” Arteta said. “He will need further tests tomorrow, and then we will know more.”
The Arsenal manager is now awaiting medical assessments to determine the extent of the injuries, with both players potentially facing time on the sidelines.
The injuries come at a critical point in the season as Arsenal continue their push for the Premier League title, making squad fitness a major concern in the weeks ahead.
