Kano Pillars have confirmed the appointment of Daniel Ogunmodede as the club’s new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season as the four time league champions continue their rebuilding efforts.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the club’s Media Director, Isma’eel Tangalashi, who said Ogunmodede, widely known in Nigerian football circles as “Ijaball,” will lead the club’s technical department as preparations for the new campaign gather momentum.
According to the club, the decision forms part of a broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening the technical setup and positioning Kano Pillars to compete more effectively in both domestic competitions and future continental campaigns.
Ogunmodede arrives with a growing reputation in Nigerian football following his spell with Remo Stars, where his progressive style of play and emphasis on player development earned widespread praise. He replaces experienced coach Muhammad Babaganaru, whose tenure came to an end following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Club officials believe Ogunmodede’s appointment represents an important step in their ambition to restore Kano Pillars to the upper reaches of the NPFL after a disappointing campaign. The Sai Masu Gida finished 15th last season, collecting 48 points from 38 matches in a campaign that fell well below the club’s traditional standards.
The new technical adviser is expected to begin work immediately, with attention turning to player recruitment, preseason preparations and reshaping the squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Kano Pillars will hope Ogunmodede can oversee a swift turnaround as they seek to re establish themselves among the league’s leading contenders after several inconsistent seasons.
