The Technical Committee Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Sherif Inuwa Ahlan, has assured that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will complete the remaining duration of his contract with the national football body.
Chelle, who has around nine months left on his deal with the NFF, has recently been the subject of speculation amid interest from a number of foreign clubs and national teams. The former Malian centre-back has garnered attention following his impressive management of the Super Eagles, leading them to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite the growing external interest, Ahlan expressed confidence that Chelle will honor his contractual obligations with Nigeria. According to sources, “The chairman assured that the Super Eagles coach will honour his contract and so there was no reason to discuss his situation.”
The NFF’s statement comes at a crucial period as the Super Eagles prepare to return to competitive action in a four-nation invitational tournament scheduled for next month in Amman, Jordan. Nigeria will face the host nation, Jordan, as well as Iran, in what is expected to be a stern test for Chelle’s squad.
Chelle’s future with the Super Eagles has been a topic of intense discussion in recent weeks, especially with reports suggesting that the Malian coach has demanded a monthly salary of $130,000 and listed 19 conditions to continue in his role. Despite this, the NFF remains steadfast in their confidence that Chelle will see through his contract.
Fans and analysts will be watching closely to see how Chelle balances interest from abroad with his commitments to Nigeria, especially as the team looks to integrate new young talents in upcoming fixtures.
