Bosnia and Herzegovina currently occupy first position in the 2026 FIFA World Cup third-place rankings as teams battle for qualification to the knockout stage.
Despite finishing behind Switzerland and tournament co-hosts Canada in Group B, Bosnia secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Qatar. Their campaign so far includes one win, one draw, and one loss, leaving them with a goal difference of -1.
At present, Sweden, Croatia, South Korea, Algeria, Paraguay, Scotland, and Cape Verde make up the remaining places in the top eight third-placed teams.
Meanwhile, Belgium, DR Congo, Ecuador, and Senegal are positioned outside the qualification spots and face an uphill task to improve their standings.
Several teams still have matches to play. Ecuador, Sweden, and Paraguay will be in action on Thursday, while Belgium, Cape Verde, and Senegal are scheduled to play on Friday. DR Congo, Croatia, and Algeria will complete their group-stage fixtures on Saturday.
Under the expanded World Cup format, the eight highest-ranked teams that finish third in their respective groups will qualify for the Round of 32, adding extra significance to the final round of group matches.
